Sliding door glass replacement

Sliding doors take more knocks than any other glass in the house — kids, pets, furniture, a door pulled too hard. When the glass goes, the frame is usually fine, and replacing only the glass is far cheaper than replacing the door.

We take the sash out, measure it, and refit it with safety glass made to size. Toughened glass has to be cut before it is toughened, so it is made to order; if the door cannot stay open overnight, we make it safe first.

Why doors need safety glass

Australian standard AS 1288 requires safety glass in doors. If your old door had ordinary annealed glass — common in older homes — the replacement has to be toughened or laminated. We will tell you which one suits the door and why.

Same-day make-safe, then the new glass

What affects the price

The size of the panel, the type of safety glass and whether the door is aluminium or timber. You get a fixed written quote before we start. If it is an insurance job, we provide an itemised quote and photos for your insurer.
